What Might Have Been is a series of novels in which all of Jane Austen's six complete works are interconnected. Characters from each Austen story will interact with one another, with secondary storylines and events from previous books carrying over into future stories.

Standalone novels are those which are not part of a series. Sequels are always a possibility, though -- I will never say no to my Muse if the story is good enough.
